Elibility requirements and submission guidelines for this award to assist third-year periodontal residents in launching their careers as full-time educators.

Created to assist beginning periodontal educators in launching their career, one payment of $10,000 is awarded in the fourth quarter of the year after that AAP Annual Meeting. The award is not to be used to replace support that would have normally been provided by the recipient's institution. The award should be considered a supplement to any salary, stipend or research support.
Award candidates must be in their third year of a nonmilitary accredited periodontal post-doctoral training program in the United States, and intend to pursue a career in full-time periodontal teaching and research in the United States.
A strong interest in periodontal education is the primary qualification. In addition, the selected candidates must demonstrate excellent character, integrity, a record of academic and personal achievements, and an aptitude for teaching and research.

The selection committee is made up of three periodontists who have an interest in periodontal education. Members of the committee are appointed by the Foundation president. The application deadline is June 1 and the Fellowship recipient is announced by August 15.
