The purpose of this policy is to identify the steps that will be taken if an educational award recipient engages in unethical or unlawful conduct.

If at any time the AAP Foundation determines that an individual who received a scholarship, fellowship, or other award from it engaged in fraud, misrepresentation, or other unethical conduct in connection with the application for or receipt of the award, the Foundation shall be entitled to remove that individual’s name from the list of awardees and to repayment of any monetary award that was paid to that individual.

If, within ten (10) years after receiving any scholarship, fellowship, or other award from the AAP Foundation, an individual is convicted of, or pleads nolo contendere to, a felony or is found by a court, regulatory agency, or peer review panel to have engaged in unlawful or unethical conduct relating to the practice of dentistry, the Foundation shall be entitled to remove that individual’s name from the list of previous awardees and to repayment of any monetary award made that was paid to that individual.
